Protection from Violence

Violence against women and girls (VAWG) remains one of the most widespread and devastating human rights violations in the world. 1 in 3 women have experienced violence in their lifetime, and 1 in 4 girls have experienced sexual violence before age 18.

Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and harmful practices prevent women and girls from reaching their full potential. Domestic violence, rape, child marriage and female genital mutilation are some of the different forms of violence affecting women and girls today.

Child marriage puts girls at greater risk of violence and increases her chances of remaining trapped in poverty. It also often results in her being pulled out of school and can leave her with serious health complications or even facing death due to early pregnancy.

Save Our Needy uses both online and offline activities to advance the rights of women and girls. Through advocacy and action, we work to attain social and behavior change in the communities where we work in order to ensure the respect of the rights of women and girls.

Our approach and focus is mainly on preventive education. We believe that education is the most powerful tool to create social change. Through education, we can change and improve social attitudes, behaviors, interactions, and norms. We deliver educational programs that prevent domestic violence and sexual violence.

We strengthen the capacity of women to influence change at the community and national level by building their skills and forming a strong network of women. We engage with policymakers, government leaders at all levels, and traditional leaders to influence decision making regarding the implementation of policies and laws to protect women and girls against violence.
